Clay’s Final Project
Now that I am at the end of my BlueStamp experience, I can really appreciate how much I have learned here. Before I came to BlueStamp, I had no idea how to solder or wire anything, and I was easily confused by circuits. Now, after six weeks’ experience, I have been able to wire up a very complex puzzle box that is fully functional. If I have time next summer, I would like to come back to BlueStamp to do another, more difficult project.
Clay’s Puzzle Box Milestone
In this video, I show that the parts for my puzzle box have all been successfully connected and programmed. I also show what each of the parts will do in the final product.
Clay’s TV-B-Gone
Basically, this little device can turn off or turn on any TV within a room. It took me slightly over a day to complete, and things pretty much went together without a hitch. The only real problem was a joint came undone a few days after the project was complete, and it had to be re-soldered. Besides that, this project was quite easy to complete, even for a rookie.
My First Two Weeks
When I first started at BSE, I had no idea how to work with wires or solder parts. So as you can imagine, I did not exactly make the neatest looking first project. It had a few joints that had excess solder, various burn marks, and a wire that would not stay put. However, after being here a couple of weeks, I now have the ability to hook up an LED timer and let it countdown with a buzzer buzzing along with it. I even have the entirety of my project coded, but I might have to change the threshold for the puzzle answer. Next week, I will play test my project and get started putting the hardware into its new case (well, once the case gets here).
